🏄‍♀️ A dream come true

Since their beginnings, Lucía and Zoe have shown consistency, dedication, and a true passion for surfing. Their training, participation in local and international competitions, and their technical and mental development have earned them this recognition and the opportunity to wear the colors of our nation on a world-class stage.

The ISA Junior World Championship is one of the most important events for youth surfing categories globally, bringing together the best Under-18 and Under-16 surfers in the world under the standards and regulations of the internationally recognized federation affiliated with the Olympic Committee. Participating in this kind of event offers an invaluable experience—not only competitively, but also in terms of sporting, cultural, and personal growth.

🌊 What does this call-up imply?

  • Representing the country: Lucía and Zoe will carry Costa Rica’s flag in every wave they ride, with pride and responsibility.

  • Competing with the best: Facing surfers from all over the world will let them measure their level, spot areas for improvement, and gain international exposure.

  • Personal and sporting growth: This experience will help strengthen their competitive mindset, resilience, and vision as high-level athletes.

  • Inspiration for other youth: Their selection inspires other girls and young surfers in the country to pursue their dreams and strive for lofty goals.

At Sandpiper Surf Academy we undertake an active commitment: they will not arrive at the world championship “on their own.” As a high-performance specialized academy, we will support Lucía and Zoe throughout the lead-up process:

  • We will design a personalized training plan including surf technique, physical conditioning, video analysis, and mental preparation.

  • We will organize focused sessions on identified weaknesses, competition simulations, and continuous evaluation.

  • We will assist with logistics of preparation—local travel, training in similar spots, gear adjustments—so that they arrive at the world championship with the best possible backing.

The selection of Lucía Cristi and Zoe Ruiz is a celebration of young national talent. Seeing them compete in the ISA Junior World Championship will be a source of pride for Costa Rica and for everyone who has believed in them.

We wish them total success in every wave, that they dominate each maneuver with grit, stay calm under pressure, and above all, enjoy every moment of this global experience.
